6-Week Beginner Acrylic Painting Course

Interested in learning to paint but can only draw stick figures? With Art Spot you’re in luck!

Join us at Solvang Elementary School’s Upper Campus Art Room for this six-week painting with acrylics series for beginner to intermediate painters. This class will equip you with basic techniques and fundamentals of composition, perspective and color theory. We provide the lessons, inspiring studio space, and encouragement; you provide your art supplies (list below), willingness, and favorite bottle of wine (or beverage of your choice)

You choose your subject matter and will create your painting with focused instruction and guidance from our trained artist.

Paint What You Please:

Week One: Composition & Color Theory
Week Two: Value Painting
Week Three: Underpainting
Week Four: Underpainting
Week Five: Actual Color Study
Week Six: Actual Color Study

Classes are 2.5 hours long and begin Wednesday, March 2 and end on April 6 (6:00pm – 8:30pm)

Students are responsible to purchase needed supplies–a suggested supply list will be emailed upon sign up or you can purchase starter kits at on our website after you register for the class–see the “shop” page.

The “Light” Starter Kit ($49.50) –these are the bare essentials that you will need for the class
The “Complete” Starter Kit ($99.50) –this kit includes an easel and additional supplies that will set you up for success in the class & at home

Class limited to 10 students and will require a minimum of 6 to be conducted.

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS AND PROTOCOLS
As of now, masks will be required indoors for all. Kids will be allowed to take breaks outside without masks. We plan to adhere to all county and state mask mandates as they relate to COVID. All staff will fully vaccinated and masked.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Full payment is due at the time of enrollment, which includes a $50 nonrefundable deposit. All cancellations made more than 14 days prior to class start date may receive a refund minus the $50 non-refundable deposit. Cancellations made within 14 days of the class start date are nonrefundable. If your child is unable to attend for any reason past the 14 day mark, you are welcome to transfer their seat to another child–we would need to be notified ahead of the class start date.
