6-Week Beginner Watercolor Class
You will learn the basic techniques, fundamentals of composition and color theory. Students will create their paintings with focused instruction and guidance from our trained artist.
Classes are 2.5 hours long on Tuesday afternoons beginning September 9 and ending on October 14. Participants are welcome to bring snacks and alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy during class.
Price is $285 per person
Below are the supplies you’ll need for the class. You can also opt to have a kit ready for you at the first day of class for $100 (please email in advance to reserve your kit).
Supplies list (with links to amazon):
- Brushes (for watercolor) I recommend getting at least a size 6 Round, size 2 Round, and a 1/2″ Flat, Filbert or One Stroke
- 100% Cotton Watercolor paper, 140lb, cold pressed. A 9×12 or similar sized pad or block should be plenty.
- Paper towel roll
- Pencil: (preferably an HB)
- Extra Soft Eraser
- Kneaded Eraser
- A mixing palette–plastic or ceramic
- A watercolor set (Winsor & Newton Cotman will work just fine for beginning, or you could upgrade to Professional or Daniel Smith) in either liquid tubes or pan form
- These last three are a fun addition but not necessary
- Artist tape–might be fun to bring as well. Won’t be necessary but you might enjoy framing your paintings this way.
- Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen (S) or ultra fine tipped Sharpie
- Masking fluid
Class will be held at our art studio on Alisal in Solvang.
Class is limited to 12 students and will require a minimum of 6 to be conducted.
