6-Week Adult Intermediate Acrylic Painting Course

Follow-Up class to our 6-Week Beginner Acrylic Painting Class. Only available to returning students who have completed a 4, 5 or 6-week beginner course.

This class will jump off from the basics and start to dig into technique, practices, style and composition. We’ll start off learning about different brands of paint and mediums while playing in a creative session to loosen up from our tendencies toward rigidity and see where our own creativity takes us. We’ll work on a new painting of your choice (from a reference photo), but this time we’ll paint the way an artist would traditionally paint. Then we’ll play with a limited palette in a complementary study where we’ll all paint the same objects. Lastly, I’ll have everyone bring in a painting from an artist they admire or just love and I’ll help you re-create that piece of work. You learn so much by copying artists…really…it’s not a bad thing! promise.

Here’s a break-down of the series:

Week One: Creative Session
Week Two: Begin Painting of Choice
Week Three: Finish Painting of Choice
Week Four: Paint from a painting from an artist of your choice (learn the artist’s style & techniques)
Week Five: Continue Painting
Week Six: Finish up painting from a painting

Class is limited to 12 students but will require a minimum of 6 to be conducted.

Class runs each , 6-8:30pm

I would recommend upgrading your paint to professional heavy body colors as you start to run out of Basics/Student grade paint if you haven’t already and purchasing a few more canvases. 1-8×10 panel (cheap is fine) for the first night and your regular supplies is all you’ll need. That class we’ll discuss supplies so you can purchase the correct sizes for the rest of the class .
